  • "Neighbor keeps 'accidentally' getting my packages delivered to his house then opens them"

Live in Tampa in a duplex situation. My neighbor Carl is on the other side, we share a driveway.
  • This started like two months ago maybe? I ordered some running shoes from Nike. Tracking says delivered.
  • No package. I figure porch pirates, whatever, file a claim, Nike sends another pair. Few days later I'm taking out trash and I see Carl wearing my exact shoes.
  • Same color, same style. I have kind of weird taste in shoes, these were the bright orange ones with the green accent.
  • I'm like "hey nice shoes." He goes "oh yeah got these last week." Okay. Weird coincidence maybe.
  • Then it happens again with a package from Amazon. Dog food for my beagle. Says delivered, nothing on my
  • Next week Carl's got a bag of the same dog food sitting by his back door.
  • The exact brand I buy, same flavor. He doesn't have a dog. I ask him about it.
  • He goes "oh yeah I've been feeding the stray cats in the neighborhood." With premium dog food.
  • For cats. Sure. This is when I start getting paranoid. I set up a cheap Ring camera pointed at my porch.
  • Order something small to test it. Pack of phone chargers. Delivery guy pulls up. Walks to Carl's side instead of mine.
  • Leaves the package there. Carl comes out like five minutes later, picks it up, takes it inside.
  • My address is on the package. I saw it clearly on camera. I go knock on his door.
  • Ask if a package got delivered to him by mistake. "Nope, didn't get anything." I'm standing there like.
  • I literally have you on camera taking it inside. Don't say that though. Just say okay thanks and leave.
  • Go to file a police report. They basically say it's a civil matter unless I can prove theft.
  • Tell me to contact the delivery company. Contact Amazon. They can't do anything about delivery to wrong address except refund me.
  • So now I'm out here rerouting all my packages to my mom's house in Clearwater which is 30 minutes away because my neighbor is apparently just stealing my shit and lying about it.
  • Talked to the landlord. He said "have you tried talking to him about it?" YES. I HAVE TALKED TO HIM.
  • HE LIES. I don't know what to do here. Can't afford to move. Landlord doesn't care.
  • OP Traditional_House709 my friends are telling me to confront him with the video evidence. Here's why I'm scared to do that. Carl is like 6'2" and built like he works out. I'm 5'6" and I work from home doing graphic design. I'm not trying to start a physical confrontation with this guy. Also he knows where I live. Obviously. We share a wall. If I piss him off what's he gonna do? I already don't trust him, now I'm supposed to accuse him of theft to his face?

  • MudCautious706 Get a glitter bomb sent to you and when he opens it boom deny the shiny dicks
  • Fatter Than ThinklAm Have your stuff delivered to a locker near you. They are everywhere and it would prevent your clepto neighbor from gifting himself on your dime.
  • Alycion Amazon has drop boxes they can set up for you. You and the drivers can gain access. I am pretty sure it's available here. Fill out delivery instructions to put it on your porch on any site you can. It may save you a few trips across the bridge. I'd go back to the police with footage and the delivery notices that show it was placed on his side. That should prove theft.
  • pimpelvinkje But how? How does Carl get delivery people to bring it to his house instead of yours without even checking. What did he do to have them walk to his house instead of yours? All of them?
  • GraceOfTheNorth Why didn't you say you had him on camera? I don't get it.
